Medsol prescreens/auto offer, manager has 24hrs to rescind
need 2 sup refs (charge accepted) at submittal; 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
Modules are required to be done before start of assignment. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital.
For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years). Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling, but we would include this verbiage on the confirmation. **Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed**
**High risk unit, must be willing to float between L/D and Mother/Baby. Must be able to circulate c-sections and feel comfortable in PP
Unit FBC - OB / L&D / PP (LDRP)
# L&D Beds 10
# OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections? 2
# Triage beds 3 OB-ED and 3 antepartum testing used for OB ED overflow
# Postpartum beds 12
# Births per day? Month? Year? 100-150 births a month
Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios? Ratios 1:3-4 couplets, LD anywhere from 1:1 to 1:2 , 1:1-3 antepartums
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, & AWHONN Advanced EFM STABLE preferred."
Common diagnoses/Types of patients preterm labor/bleeding/inductions/cesarean sections/hypertension
Experience or 'Must have' skills Must be able to float to MB and be able to circulate c-sections. All RNs must be able to circulate C/S
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips Pitocin
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? OB surgical techs
OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7? OB hospitalist 24/7 - Neo on call 24/7 and rounds daily. Anesthesia in house 24/7.
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) No vents
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips on moms in PACU only
EFM System: Client Corometric monitors - Fetalink surveillance
Shifts & Scheduling:12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. EOW and rotate with staff on holidays
Floating Requirements? All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen. No in house floating.
Scrubs: Provided
- Baby Catcher is also known as the NRP role. This is sometimes filled by NICU staff and sometimes by L&D. Depends on who has the staff available to do it. But it is an assignment for the entire shift.
