Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Wound Care/Infection Preventionist
Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team at Emerald Nursing and Rehab Mercy. The Wound Care/Infection Prevention Nurse will play a critical role in assessing, planning, and implementing comprehensive wound care/infection surveillance for our residents. This role requires an understanding of wound care management/infection surveillance, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:
Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of residents’ wounds/infection prevention. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings and best practices.
Wound Treatment: Administer wound care treatments, including dressing changes, debridement, and application of topical agents. Ensure proper techniques and infection control practices are followed.
Infection Preventionist: The Infection Preventionist serves as the leader in surveillance activities, maintains documentation of incidents, findings, and any corrective actions made by the facility and reports surveillance findings to the facility’s Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee.
Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and develop treatment plans. Provide education and guidance to nursing staff on wound care/infection prevention practices and protocols.
Monitoring and Documentation: Regularly monitor and document the progress of wound healing/infection prevention, changes in condition, and response to treatments. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Patient and Family Education: Educate residents and their families on wound care/infection prevention procedures, prevention strategies, and the importance of adherence to treatment plans. Address any questions or concerns regarding wound care/infection prevention.
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care/infection prevention.
Emergency Response: Respond to urgent wound care/infection prevention needs and manage complex wound cases in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
Qualifications:
Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid state nursing license. Infection Preventionist (IP) certification.
