Reporting to the Director of Education and Professional Nursing Development, the Surgical Services RN Educator will work alongside unit leaders to develop and deliver consistent education services. Working in collaboration with the Perioperative Services Director, CNOR Operating Room Nurse Managers, CPAN Post Anesthesia (PACU) Managers, as well as Surgical Services Supervisors / Coordinators, you’ll find a unit that is entirely on board with building a progressive education program.
Though you’ll get opportunities to address other populations, the Surgical Services Educator will primarily work in the Perioperative Services Department. A busy unit with 10 Operating Suites, 10 Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) beds, and a full complement of patient care and technical specialists, the Surgical Educator will be right at home sharing their expertise in patient care, nursing practice, and education techniques. Performing around 10K procedures annually, the Surgical Services RN Specialist will provide education for wide range of procedure type including OB-GYN, Orthopedic, ENT, Podiatry, Cardiac, and General Surgery.
The Surgical Services Nurse Educator will take a primary role in developing and implementing staff education initiatives in the Surgical Services Department. Working with unit and hospital leadership buy-in, you’ll create curriculum and workshops to test the clinical knowledge of various skill levels throughout the unit. Strong experience in analyzing skill gaps and developing innovative methods to address gaps will surely be an important skill set.
