About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Telemetry **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** Day Shift, 7 AM - 7:30 PM, every other weekend required **Guaranteed Hours:** 34.5 hours/week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience required **License:** NYS RN License **Certifications:** BLS, ACLS **Must-Have:** BSN required, 2 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience, EPIC experience highly preferred **Job Description:** - Deliver patient care by incorporating the principles of a professional practice model focusing on Relationship-Centered Care and using the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice. - Assess and evaluate patient care needs; apply critical thinking skills in patient care management. - Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in delivering nursing care. - Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. - Prioritize all aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning post-hospital care, and delegating tasks as appropriate. - Educate patients and caregivers, anticipating needs and readiness to learn, about their care plans, transitions of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. - Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all members of the patient care team. - Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing and demonstrate effective use of material resources. - Serve as a role model for Relationship-Centered Care through admissions, bedside shift reports, medication reviews, and collaboration with unit physicians and nurses. - Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families. - Use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care. - Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns; escalate to appropriate managerial staff as needed. - Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue, body language, and actions. - Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care; identify and escalate barriers and improvement opportunities. - Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies. - Perform charge nurse duties as assigned. - Coordinate with managerial staff to ensure sufficient supplies and resources for patient care. - Document accurately and thoroughly in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements and standards of care. - Contribute to the environment of care to support colleagues, patients, families, and team members. - Encourage and demonstrate a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, lifelong learning, and innovation for self and others. - Participate in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils, nursing department committees, and unit initiatives.
