Putnam Ridge is a beautiful skilled nursing and subacute rehabilitation facility conveniently located in Brewster, NY.
We are looking for a Full-time Registered Nurse / Unit Manager. Must have an active NY RN license and one year Supervisor and/or Unit Manager experience.
Job Description:
- Implement and develop standards of practice within the nursing department.
- Report all cases of alleged violations involving mistreatment, neglect or abuse, including injuries of unknown sources and starts collecting information immediately from staff on duty.
- Track individual quality-of-care issues.
- Conduct regular resident/patient care rounds.
- Conduct regular resident/patient care audits to identify problems, implements corrective action.
- Work closely with the physicians, consultants, interdisciplinary team members, and staff on or assigned to the unit who are responsible for their resident/patient population.
- Act as a role model for expert resident/patient care delivery.
- May take a resident/patient care assignment/ function in the role of Charge Nurse for purposes of resident care and/or staff instruction.
- Participate in resident/patient/family care conferences.
- Assess resident nursing care needs; prepare and carry out a nursing care plan and a Resident/Patient care plan. Complete required documentation.
- Provide for and/or ensure descriptive records of the medical treatment and nursing care of residents.
- Check and/or assign check for MD orders, medication and charts to insure prompt and accurate execution of orders.
- Instruct and assist the nursing staff and auxiliary nursing personnel on nursing problems, unit management and related activities. Develops a variable assignment system to meet particular resident/patient needs as ultimately responsible. Coordinates the services rendered by other departments in the interest of effective management and resident welfare.
- Supervise the activities of professional staff in the bedside care of residents/patients and the administration of mediations and treatments on the unit and ensures Infection Control practices on the unit.
- Orient new personnel and oversee participation in related staff development and inservice training programs.
- Conduct monthly and as necessary meetings with all unit staff.
- Manage personnel; including any necessary corrective action, up to and including termination in conjunction with the Assistant Director, Director of Nursing and the Human Resources Director.
- Serves as member of inter-departmental committees, creating a strong and visible role model for a team approach to problem.
- May fulfill role and functions of Registered Nurse supervisor.
