Virtus Healthcare Staffing is partnering with a prestigious Level I Trauma Facility in Palm Springs, CA to find a top-notch RNFA CVOR (Registered Nurse First Assistant, Cardiothoracic Vascular Operating Room) to join their dynamic team.

About the Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified RNFA to play a vital role in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. You will work alongside a dedicated team of surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, providing exceptional care to patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Function as the primary surgical assistant:
  • Handle and dissect tissues in collaboration with the surgeon.
  • Clamp blood vessels, ligate vessels, and perform other procedures as directed by the surgeon.
  • Suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin.
  • Provide exposure through the use of instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging.
• Perioperative Care:
  • Participate in preoperative assessment and planning for surgical patients.
  • Scrub and circulate as needed within the Cardiac OR.
  • Accurately pull case carts and ensure proper equipment is available.
  • Maintain a sterile field and surgical environment.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Maintain positive working relationships within the OR and across departments.
• Safety and Quality:
  • Recognize and address safety hazards in the OR.
  • Participate in call rotations to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Maintain clinical competence through ongoing education and participation in surgical procedures.
  • Complete mandatory hospital programs to meet TJC (The Joint Commission) standards.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a current California RN license.
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential is mandatory.
• Completion of an accredited RNFA course, including the required internship hours in cardiothoracic surgery.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a circulating or scrub nurse in a cardiothoracic or vascular operating room setting.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications with a commitment to maintaining them.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Active listening skills and a commitment to patient advocacy.
• Strong understanding of current nursing theory and best practices.
• Compassionate and empathetic demeanor with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent physical and mental stamina to handle demanding work.
• Possesses the necessary visual, auditory, and manual dexterity to ensure patient safety.
