Radiation Therapist

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated Radiation Therapist to join our partner medical center in Santa Clara, CA. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced technology and contribute to the delivery of high-quality radiation therapy treatments to patients.

Responsibilities:

• Treatment Delivery:
  • Operate all CT/SIM and treatment equipment, including linear accelerators and high dose rate machines.
  • Perform morning checks and warm-up procedures for equipment.
  • Deliver radiation treatments according to physician prescriptions, ensuring accurate dosage and patient safety.
  • Utilize the Record and Verify system to ensure treatment accuracy.
• Patient Care:
  • Prepare patients for treatment, including proper positioning and immobilization.
  • Provide clear instructions and support to patients throughout the treatment process.
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
• Technical Skills:
  • Create patient set-up devices, immobilization devices, and radiation field-shaping blocks.
  • Prepare patient treatment charts and maintain accurate treatment records.
  • Schedule patient treatments efficiently.
• Professionalism and Safety:
  • Exhibit professional behavior appropriate to the age-specific needs of each patient.
  • Adhere to radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff, and visitors from unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Follow infection control practices to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.
  • Maintain good verbal and written communication skills and work collaboratively with all staff members.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certificate (California) OR Radiologic Technologist Certification.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • California Fluoroscopy license (required in areas where fluoroscopy is performed by the therapist for patient diagnosis).

Preferred Qualifications:

• One (1) year of recent experience in patient treatment using various radiation therapy equipment.
• Experience with record and verify systems and multi-leaf collimators.
