The ideal candidate will support attorneys with community association matters, including condominium and homeowners' association (HOA) governance, disputes, and transactional work.
The paralegal will be responsible for assisting with legal research, document preparation, filings, and maintaining organized case files. The ideal candidate will support attorneys with community association matters, including condominium and homeowners' association (HOA) governance, disputes, and transactional work.
The paralegal will be responsible for assisting with legal research, document preparation, filings, and maintaining organized case files. This position requires an in-depth understanding of Florida community association law and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with condominium and HOA legal matters, including document drafting, research, and case management.
- Prepare and file documents such as lien notices, association governing documents, amendments, and meeting minutes.
- Conduct legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and regulatory issues affecting community associations under Florida law.
- Assist in the preparation for board meetings, elections, and other association-related activities.
- Review and analyze contracts, governing documents, and other legal instruments for compliance with Florida law.
- Communicate with clients, property managers, and board members to obtain necessary information and provide updates on case progress.
- Draft legal correspondence, notices, and pleadings under the supervision of attorneys.
- File pleadings and other legal documents with courts and government agencies.
- Manage and organize client files, ensuring that all documentation is current and properly filed.
- Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses, including reviewing and organizing documents for production.
- Support attorneys in litigation cases, including scheduling depositions, hearings, and preparing trial exhibits.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, with a focus on community association law or real estate law.
- Certification from an accredited paralegal program is required.
- In-depth knowledge of Florida condominium and HOA laws and procedures.
- Proficiency in legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a legal team.
- Experience working with a community association law firm.
- Familiarity with community association management software.
- Litigation support experience, including trial preparation.
