EducationRequired:
Juris Doctor from an ABA-approved law school
Master of Library Science (or itsequivalent) from an ALA-accredited program
Experience and Training:
Prior experienceproviding referenceservicesin a law libraryis preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Willingness to contribute actively to the mission, vision, goals, andobjectivesof the School of Law and University
Outstanding interpersonal and listening skills sufficient to work effectively with School of Law faculty, staff, students, and prospective students
Excellent oral and written communication skills that enable candidatesto communicate withfriendliness, enthusiasm, patience, and respect
Ability to conduct research using materials in all formats
Ability to deliver exceptional patron service independentlyandcollaboratively
Essential Functions:
- Underthesupervisionof theLaw Librarian,providereferenceassistanceto law school faculty, students, the High Point University community, and thepublicas necessary.
Co-teach legal research classesas part ofthe first-yearLegal Research & Writing curriculum.
Participate in the assessment of student satisfaction with library services and resources.
Providelibrary tours for visitorsand forprospective and admitted students.
Participateinlibrary orientations for new students and professors.
Participateinroutinemeetingsas necessary.
Participate actively in professional associationsrelating to law libraries.
Engage in other administrative duties essential to the mission of the Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law and the law library.
