Referral Coordinator - Austin Gastroenterology

Austin Gastroenterology is a 40-year-old practice with more than 35 physicians and 30 advanced practice providers located in 17 locations throughout the greater Austin area. We service areas in Austin, Kyle, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Bee Cave, Georgetown, and many more. We are currently looking to add a full-time Referral Coordinator at our Anderson location.

Main Job Functions

• Responsible for the processing and coordination of patient referrals for specialty care, diagnostic services, and social series.
• Assist Schedulers with high call volume
• Maintain physicians schedules scheduling office visits and procedures (may be done via phone or face-to-face)
• Take triage call messages for medical staff
• View patient visit notes, identifying problems & diagnosis listed and physician orders
• Assist in patient registration and financial transactions
• Take triage call messages for medical staff

• Assist in patient registration and financial transactions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Minimum of one year's experience preferred in a customer-related field. Healthcare experience is preferred.
• Performance Requirements:
  • Knowledge of computer programs and applications.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
  • Skill in operating office equipment
  • Skill in handling paperwork/filing adequately.
  • Skill in handling incoming phone calls and triaging appropriately.
  • Skill in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to learn/use other computer programs including Microsoft Excel, e-mail, Internet, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
  • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.

Schedule

Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm, day shift, onsite.
