About the Job
The primary purpose of the Dietician position is to assess residents' nutritional needs, interact closely with clinical staff and assist in the development of care plans. Responsible for the daily operation of the Dietary Department. This position reports to the Director Food and Beverage with a dotted line to the Vice President of Healthcare. Duties and Responsibilities Manages the Dietary Department Develops nutrition assessments and monitors results Works closely with skilled nursing and personal care clinical staff, including documentation in care plans Serves as a lead in the Meal Tracker system. Responsible for the development of all staff in the Dietary Department. Conducts research and develops policies and procedures Treats staff and residents with dignity, maintains professional demeanor Provides consultation to administration regarding planning, policy development, and priority-setting, based on initial and ongoing evaluations of the food service needs Offers in-service education to facility staff as indicated by the in-service programming schedule or as requested Gives dietary consultation to residents in all levels of care in accordance with physician orders Provides weekly review of all residents seen to the Director of Dining and Dietary Services Counsels the patient, staff, Speech Pathologist, and family with regard to the patient's nutritional needs. Charts nutritional information in accordance with the policies of the facility and accepted professional practice. Participates in care plan development and Minimum Data Set (MDS) documentation as requested by facility Makes appropriate referrals for continuing nutritional care Works closely with the Health Center team Track Health Center Residents weights according to physician order. For weights loss & gain of +3 or - 3 lbs, order appropriate interventions and document in facilities EMR. Attend Health Center Weight meeting weekly Attend facilities QAPI meeting Quarterly Work with the VP of Health Services and RNAC to ensure facility documentation to capture appropriate Non-Therapy Ancillaries for MDS & reimbursement Reviews sanitation in accordance with current standards and infection control Perform tray audits as needed Other duties as requested by Director Food & Beverage and VP of Health Services Qualifications/Skills Previous management experience required Previous skilled nursing experience preferred Must be able to work weekends, holidays and alternate shifts Physical Requirements Long periods of sitting, standing, and walking Must be able to lift 25 pound Education Must be a Registered Dietitian Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics Other Duties Must comply with the general attendance policies.
