JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST (JBNJ) NEW JERSEY
Degree/Education -Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field. Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Certifications -Basic Life Support (Current)
Experience: Two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse,preferably in a Primary Care setting Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
Board Certification- Licensure/Registration: • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse as required in the TO.
Job Responsibilities-The duties for the HCW are as follows:
- Coordinates patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals.
- Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
- Performs physical exam and health histories.
- Provides health promotions, counseling, and education.
- Administers medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions, such as phlebotomy, and IV insertions/administration.
- Directs and supervises care provide by other healthcare professionals.
- Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
- Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms and quickly reacts to assist patients in emergency situations. Provides emergency care as a Rapid Response Team (RRT) member.
- Communicates and collaborates with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
- Makes referral appointments and arranges specialty care as appropriate.
- Performs nursing services identified in the TO, to include setting up, operating, andmonitoring specialized medical equipment such as cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, nebulizers, and other clinic specific equipment.
- Orients and trains newly assigned RNs, LPNs, and ancillary personnel to unit policies and procedures, skills, and standards of practice.
- Participates/conducts research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes, to include peer reviews.
- Triages patients’ needs telephonically, electronically, and on a walk-in basis, per MDG policies and procedures, to include the determination of optimal time and location for patient management (ER, clinic, homecare) and follow up care as required.
- Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with patients during all aspects of their care. Serves as an advocate for and ensures appropriate education is provided to the patient and their families as needed.
- Communicates treatment plan and patient teaching IAW established protocols. Collects and assesses significant patient history information and performs all necessary patient teaching.
- Serves as an advocate for and ensures appropriate education is provided to the patient or targeted populations for the purpose of promoting adherence to treatment plans selfcare actions and education programs. Ensures activities match the level of the patients’ clinical risk readiness to change and health literacy.
- Augments/supports other clinical nursing staff during the absence of other nurses due to illness, leave or deployments.
- Must be skillful, tactful, and professional in communicating with patients during all aspects of their care. Serves as an advocate for and ensures appropriate education is provided to the patient and their families as needed.
- Must possess organization, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/caregivers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintains all required certifications and completes required MDG RN/staff training and yearly Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
- Performs other duties within the RN scope of care and MDG policies and procedures, including providing Peds and/or Women’s Health Nursing care/services. May also be required to augment clinical nursing support during the absence of other nurses to include Pediatrics and Family Health, if the provider is out or if there is a nursing shortage in either clinic due to illness, leave or deployments.
- Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Rate: $48/hr. +H&W: $4.57/hr.
- Schedule -Mon. - Friday - 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
- Holidays: 11 paid per year
- PTO: 80hrs accrued
- Sick Leave: 56hrs accrued
