Job Title: Registered Nurse - Outpatient Department: Mental Health & Wellness

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse provides clinical care to patients of all ages in the setting of Outpatient Mental Health & Wellness Services. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to insure high quality, effective care for patients. Communicates with physicians, patients, and health care team members while maintaining high professional standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs assessments and diagnostics for patients before they meet with Provider.
- Schedules and completes health monitoring for patients annually and as needed.
- Responds to emergency calls or crisis walk-ins; Performs assessment and develops plan of care as needed.
- Addresses and responds to patient needs received via the nursing triage line.
- Administers medication in accordance with policies/procedures/standards of care.
- Performs blood draws as ordered.
- Complete paperwork submitted by patients.
- First point of contact for front office staff.
- Stays current on Mental Health treatments and best practice, including medication administration, treatment, and potential side effects.
- Routinely check physician orders and implement per policy and procedure.
- Accurately, clearly and concisely record all pertinent information on the client’s medical record per policy and procedure.
- Identify and correlate abnormal diagnostic data with client status; report and record appropriately.
- Maintain clinical progress notes per policy and procedure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific):
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
- Competent use of technology, including EHR.
- Ability to work effectively and communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in medication administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and active listening skills.
- Professionalism and business acumen appropriate for working with guests, physicians, employees and volunteers.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current NYS Licensure required.
Working Conditions:
- Requires use of computer programs as well as assembling, using, checking and maintaining required equipment.
- Requires attending meetings as well as participation on committees as required.
- Actively participates in in-service programs, in Quality Assurance programs and CQI, cross-training; attends all mandatory classes as required; completes unit-specific competencies.
- Occasionally requires assignments to other units/shifts as hospital needs require.
- Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations.
Pay Range: $34.00-$43.45/hour
Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
