The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The Clinic RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members in an outpatient clinic setting. Clinic RNs are pivotal members of the care delivery team headed by the physician and have specialized knowledge, skills and ability pertinent to ambulatory care patient needs. Scope of performance includes prioritization and triage of care delivery, implementing established standing orders and protocols, performing procedures and therapies consistent with training and licensure.

Scope
+ Monitors the patient flow throughout the clinic areas.
+ Assists Practice Manager or Healthcare Provider with clinical staffing issue within department and/or related to other departments.
+ Delegates tasks to clinical staff and create the clinical staff schedules as requested.
+ Facilitates training and orientation to the clinical staff members.
+ Assesses and triage patients for the appropriate department within the clinic.
+ Accurately obtains health history and other screening as appropriate .
+ Administers medications by oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal routes, IV.
+ Performs phlebotomy and collects specimen for various tests.
+ Educates patient and/or family on prescribed treatment regimens.
+ Performs Clinical Competencies.
+ Actively participates in quality improvement projects.
+ Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
+ Current/valid RN license from the state licensing board
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)
+ Two (2) years related field experience
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing
+ Two (2) years supervisory-level experience

2. Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
3. Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.
4. Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.
5. Maintain a positive, caring attitude towards patients.
6. Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.
7. Knowledge of computer systems, word processing programs and applications.
8. Knowledge of management and organizational theory to direct assigned clinic operations; including principles of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
