Nurse Manager-Operating Room

The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership, direction, strategic planning, staffing, and coordination for the assigned clinical areas within the Division of Surgical Services
These activities are performed in concert with the organization’s mission, vision, values, goals, and objectives
This position reports to the Director, Surgical Services and works collaboratively with other members of the Surgical Services management team, nursing administration, anesthesia providers, surgeons, hospital administration, and PHP-system administration
This position is responsible for establishing the systems and structures to support the delivery of quality patient care and to increase employee, patient, and physician satisfaction
The Nurse Manager is accountable for formulating and administering policies, plans, budgets, and programs for the department
This position is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness and efficiency of the Surgical Activities/Operations for Cardiothoracic/Vascular/General/Trauma/Bariatrics/EENT/Plastics and other team leaders
This individual works in concert with the Manager of the Neuro/Ortho/Urology/GYN/Robotics/Anesthesia/PCTS to ensure synergy within the surgery areas
Surgery area perform in excess of 16000 cases annually and operate 24/7
The position has approximately 110 direct reports
The area is responsible for $800 million in annual revenue and manages $68 million in expense and operates from 24/7.
Position has direct responsibility to a team that manages Surgical Site Infection rates and maintains the replacement plan for all specialty equipment related to areas on responsibility
Serves on committees and other leadership roles as defined by the Director.
The increasing impact of market forces on health care management requires Nurse Managers to be correspondingly alert to match their activities to these market forces

The Nurse Manager has responsibilities for a functional area of patient services and must collaborate with others to achieve strategic objectives and maintain the overall health of a specific community segment consistent with our position as the Region’s Leader in health care delivery.
An applicant for this position must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of Ohio
The applicant must have a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, Masters Preferred
CPR certified
A minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience is preferred
Other demonstrated skills necessary for this position include expertise in: communication across disciplines, accountability, change management, managing group dynamics, and performance improvement process.
