What your responsibilities will be:
- Assist in the preparation of advocacy materials relating to proposed regulations, codes and standards changes, and policy initiatives from government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
- Monitor regulatory activities on energy efficiency and environmental issues, including state and federal departments of energy or equivalent and state and federal legislatures.
- Coordinate with other AMCA departments to achieve Advocacy objectives, including Education, Communications, Publications & Standards, and Certified Ratings Program.
- Maintain rosters of various committees, working groups, and task forces.
- Staff North American advocacy committees and subcommittees. Work with chairs to plan meeting dates and agendas; help conduct meetings; write minutes; and file pre-and post-meeting materials.
- Administer NA Advocacy bill-tracking subscription.
- Develop and run queries on market data for permit data in the ConstructConnect.
- Maintain AMCA Advocacy Web Pages, keeping them updated on developments AMCA is tracking and posting blogs and briefs as applicable.
- Create and update PowerPoint presentations and white papers; participate in podcasts and webinars for AMCA members to educate them on advocacy developments.
- Attend tradeshows, conferences, and AMCA meetings, and visit member companies
Your background should include a bachelor's degree in a field related to engineering, construction, government relations or an aligned field or an equivalent combination of education and experience along with a minimum of 2 - 4 years in energy and environment or related experience. It's a plus if you have trade association/professional society experience and been a committee leader. You must have project management experience, be a critical thinker, and be very computer savvy (MS Office Suite, performing research using online and subscription tools and resources).
Travel may be required within the United States and Canada to attend industry meetings and events and to visit with AMCA member companies. Less than 10% overall time. Must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire as visits to Canada may be required.
