About the Job
We are currently hiring for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist who will ensure the business adheres to environmental, health and safety regulations while performing necessary reporting related to permits and requirements in the US and Canada.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Employee must pass a fitness for duty test, drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physical.
- Identify unsafe conditions in the workplace.
- Prepare audits/reports for management.
- Managing environmental permits and reporting for all assigned sites.
- Assist with obtaining new permits and review permits for new sites and acquisitions.
- Research and understand state/provincial, federal, and local regulations related to operations.
- Prepare quarterly, monthly, and annual reports as required internally and for submission to government entities.
- Initiate and perform inspections at all sites including records and site conditions and prepare reports on each.
- Improve/develop procedures that support compliance at each site.
- Track progress and corrective actions with each site.
- Work with sites and EHS team and perform other duties and functions as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with all local, State and Federal Regulations.
- Review and preparation of regulatory data as needed and reporting information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of all regulatory programs and environmental regulations, e.g., RCRA, EPCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, OSHA PSM, and EPA RMP.
- Excellent computer skills, proficiency in Office Suite (primarily MS Outlook, Excel and word)
- Excellent attention to detail and follow up skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent data management skills
- Strong process-improvement, organization, and project management skills
- Independent thinker, ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
- Creative problem-solver and troubleshooter.
- Working knowledge and experience in analyzing and implementing permit requirements; identifying environmental issues; providing recommendations and developing clear SOP's. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or similar field, required.
- Minimum of five (5) years environmental permitting and/or compliance experience required.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements
- Experience with US and Canadian Regulations preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk while using a phone and computer
- Ability to work outside or in a plant environment in uncontrolled temperatures from time to time while doing plant inspections and other related duties
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to pass a respirator certification and wear a respirator as necessary
Work Schedule
- Typically, hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; however, there are circumstances that will require earlier starts, later end times and weekend work.
- Work environment is on site. Remote work not offered for this position.
Pay
- $90,000 to $110,00 based on ability, education, and experience
