About the Job
The Penn Cardiovascular Institute and the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal is based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of cardiac metabolism with a focus on the role of ketone bodies as cardioprotective in various heart failure states. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include establishing a research program within the Kelly laboratory; designing, implementing, and interpreting experimental studies; mentoring trainees; securing federal and other funding to support the research program; presentations of research at local and national venues.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop the skills required for independent research while working in the field of cardiovascular medicine with an emphasis on novel treatment strategies for heart failure.
