- Position Summary
- The Resource Coordinator (RC) is responsible for ensuring provision of quality patient care within the Emergency Department on a daily basis in accordance with policies, procedures and training. The RC provides oversight to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of patient care within the department. Supporting SJ/C's mission and values, participates in quality improvement related to patient satisfaction. The RC collaborates with the department manager on clinical and non-clinical issues and is the support for the department when the manager is unavailable. The RC is responsible for assisting with the oversight, directing, coaching and mentoring of department staff. The RC assists the manager in promoting department activities that support 1) being the preferred employer, 2) leader in quality, 3) engagement of physicians, 4) achievement in financial performance, and 5) creating partnerships to build/increase market share.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required

- Core Job Functions
- Complies with regulatory guidelines for work area and professional practice standards. Assists with data collection, trouble shooting, and educating staff of performance improvement indicators. Utilizes available safety equipment and processes for patient care.
- Uses critical thinking skills to assess and document to improve patient health outcomes. Participates as a resource in developing tools to accurately assess and document the physical, psycho-social, growth, and developmental dimensions of the patient. Reviews unit, staff performance in collaboration with the manager.
- Administers medication utilizing the 5 rights and available safety equipment and processes. Utilizes clinical judgment with patient assessment and prescribed therapies to ensure promotion of goal obtainment. As a leader holds healthcare providers accountable for the standard of care.
- Review and reports test results to MD. Follows MD orders for abnormal results.
- Recruit, screen, select and supervise co-workers and volunteers. Provide orientation for volunteers and co-workers. Monitor staff's job performance and training and evaluate yearly.
- Organizes daily workload and personnel to achieve acceptable quality standards. Monitors overall quality of laboratory testing, demonstrating working knowledge of current guidelines by applicable regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyzes results of proficiency testing anticipating problems with instrumentation or methodology which might affect patient care or survey performance.
