About the Job
• Provides respiratory care to all patients regardless of age, color, creed, nationality, and diseases to the best of ability utilizing best of clinical, technological, and equipment knowledge.
• Provides medical gas therapy such as oxygen, helix/ox, nitric oxide and other special therapeutic gases.
• Provides bland and medicated aerosol therapy – intermittently and continuously
• Provides humidity therapy – both Passover, and heated – utilizing various delivery devices.
• Provides invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation utilizing a variety of high tech equipment.
• Provides airway pressure therapies such as, CPAP, utilizing various nasal and facial masks, cannula, and pillows.
• Writes respiratory plan of care and follows its achievement and completion
• Measures, interprets and monitor vital signs before and after treatments
• Collects, interprets and monitors respiratory physiological parameters
• Informs physicians about any outliers
• Responds to and participates in CPR, rapid response, and disasters
• Prepares and provides respiratory care supports to patients receiving invasive ventilation during transport.
• Performs invasive procedures such as translaryngeal intubation, arterial puncture, and trans laryngeal suctioning.
• Associate Degree in Respiratory Care Science
• New York State Licensed Respiratory Therapy Technician
• Certification from The National Board for Respiratory Care
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• Knowledge of arterial puncture•
