Job SummaryThe Operations Manager at United Legwear & Apparel Company oversees daily store operations, develops and implements operational efficiencies, monitors the receipt, organization, and storage of merchandise, as well as maintaining accurate inventory records. The Operations Manager works closely with the General Manager and Department Managers to analyze sales metrics, ensure that all product displays are well-stocked and visually appealing, and support the client experience on the sales floor when necessary. Additionally, the Operations Manager ensures that stockroom operations are smooth, efficient, and compliant with company standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions (Including but not limited to):
People
- Build good rapport with the team, ensuring excellent teamwork and integration, always working with integrity and respect for others.
- Have an ability to instruct others and adapt to differing people and situations.
- Partner with Bloomingdale’s support partner(s) to ensure the stock team cooperates and communicates effectively with all team members and customers in line with the principles of GOTFAT.
- Encourage the stock team to work with enthusiasm and at a fast pace to support store performance.
- Partner with Bloomingdale’s support partner(s) to champion the accomplishment of training and standards within your team.
- Be confident in developing others, monitoring and evaluating performance and highlighting relevant observations to Bloomingdale’s management.
- Consistently display personal motivation to inspire and set examples for the team.
- Be effective in communicating with the Ted and Bloomingdale’s management teams, providing feedback on tasks and highlighting any issues.
- Possess excellent time management, planning, and organization skills.
- Actively drive and document your own learning to contribute to the success of the team and location.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and develop relationships with the General Manager, District Manager, relevant teams and partners.
- Display excellent product knowledge as outlined in Ted’s training such as the 6C’s.
- Use all available tools to keep up to date and highlight key fashion and location trends and customer reactions.
- Have in-depth knowledge of stock KPIs such as depth, weeks cover, overstock and best & slow sellers to effectively manage the stockholding.
- Maintain a high level of personal presentation to reflect the brand.
- To have an in-depth understanding of store performance and how the effectiveness of stock handling impacts this.
- Ensure speed and efficiency are maintained when carrying out daily stockroom tasks to enhance the location's standards and success.
- Responsible for thorough and systematic replenishment of the sales floor and fulfilling all additional team and customer stock requests.
- Partner with the General Manager to deliver an effective sales environment through a strong understanding of location’s clientele and shopping behaviors
- Consistently display an in-depth knowledge and interpretation of location figures to support the achievement of targets and KPI’s
- Build and maintain a strong commercial awareness of our competitors and local markets communicating findings to the Management team
- Ensure all operational procedures are carried out as outlined and completed to set deadlines.
- Implement clear and organized routines, ensuring that efficiency is maintained, making suggestions for improvement when necessary.
- Responsible for ensuring that all deliveries and transfers are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsible for implementing all stock administration routines and supporting the accurate recording and processing of stock movements in and out of the location.
- Drive the successful preparation, processing and results of store inventory’s achieving and improving on stock KPI expectations.
- Partner with Ted’s management teams to ensure successful preparation for sale, events and transfers as per stockroom guidelines.
- Support the Ted management team in ensuring all other communications, particularly back of house and stock directives, are executed.
- Manage housekeeping procedures for the location including supply orders, archiving, filing systems etc.
- Be proactive at completing and delegating tasks correctly and on time following both the company and host policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Implement and maintain immaculate stockroom and back-of-house standards, to ensure that the brand is represented at its highest level.
- Adhere to and support all Company health and safety procedures. Use equipment properly reporting any potentially unsafe conditions.
- Be point of contact for all stock room areas.
- Adhere to and follow up on all loss prevention measures, protecting the assets of the company by reporting any misuse or theft of Company property to a member of Management.
- Experience as a stock associate/stock supervisor or in a similar role within the retail industry, preferably in fashion.
- Experience working with Union team members is a plus.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to analyze sales data and develop effective strategies.
- Knowledge of visual merchandising and inventory management.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

In this role employees are regularly expected to walk and stand for extended periods, frequently use their hands for tasks involving handling, feeling, pushing, and reaching for company products, type and manipulate electronic systems, and engage in regular communication with customers, staff, and third parties, including speaking and listening activity. This role can also include stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as necessary. The ability to lift, pull, push, and/or move up to 40 pounds is required. Vision abilities for close and distance viewing related to electronic systems and/or physical products are also required. Working conditions may involve dynamic changes in pace and activity level, necessitating flexibility and promptness to perform tasks in various physical positions.
This position is located in our Ted Baker shops in Bloomingdales - 59th Street location.
