Job Title :Risk Communications Trainer
Location : The place of performance will either be virtual (via zoom or similar) or in person. In person training events could be held in any EPA location or partner location in the country.
Job Overview :
Provide EPA staff with risk communications training sessions carried out by highly experienced risk communication trainers who are experts in the science of science communication, and who have developed a comprehensive training curriculum for federal agencies that leverages the latest research across the fields of social, behavioral, and management sciences.
Responsibilities:
- Task 1 Proposing and obtaining concurrence on training packages: EPA shall notify the Applicant at least 60 days in advance of a planned risk communication training event and supply the Applicant with relevant details including audience, topical focus, and duration, as well as EPA’s preference for a training package. Upon notification of the intended training event, the Applicant shall schedule an initial planning meeting with EPA staff within 10 business days to discuss specifics and to agree a training package for the event. Within 10 business days of the planning meeting, Applicant shall supply EPA with a written summary of the agreed event training package from the initial planning meeting, and further written details about how the Applicant will deliver that package including but not limited to: focal area/ topic; intended audience; materials/ IT and AV supplies needed; locational details and dates; and a cost breakdown for the package. Together, these will form the proposed package for a specific training event. Applicant shall obtain verbal or written concurrence from EPA for each proposed package before further planning occurs.
- Task 2: Further planning for training events: Further planning by the Applicant and meetings between EPA and the Applicant will be necessary as each training event date approaches. For each training event and associated package, the Applicant shall perform the planning necessary to deliver all elements of the agreed package including, but not limited to activities such as: program coordination; external trainer selection and preparation; pre-course surveys;, scenario, case study, and exercise selection; and logistical support. The Applicant shall share progress updates on planning with EPA staff at regular intervals via email or in scheduled virtual meetings. In general, it is expected that each event will also require at least 3 hours of focused planing and discussion with EPA (in addition to the initial planning meeting). Longer, multi-day events may require more time. The Applicant shall work with EPA staff to identify convenient times for planning calls.
- Task 3: Conduct Risk Communication Training Events: Following agreement on a training package and completion of further planning, the Applicant shall deliver the agreed training package in accordance with the parameters set out in the scope section of this.
- Task 4: Evaluate Risk Communications Training Events: Following delivery of a training package, the Applicant shall complete the event by administering post-event surveys and analyzing the success or failings of the training event, Applicant shall present an evaluation report to EPA that will include metrics, lessons learned, and recommendations for revisions to
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support, network administration, facilitation and communications management.
- Strong understanding of anti-virus software, cybersecurity protocols, and data protection measures.
