EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a broad knowledge of welding. The welding requirements may vary widely depending on the job being offered, this could include that some positions may be on the job for entry-level positions. Higher-level welder positions may require years of formal education in vocational or technical schools or colleges. Some welder positions require a general welding certification or a certificate in a specialty such as robotic welding.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to speak effectively with employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and hearing protection is required in specific areas of the facility.
