Job Description:Rx Refill Specialists ensure the timely processing of chronic medication refills by completing accurate prescription refill request processing and prior authorization processing (if applicable). The Refill specialist functions within the guidelines outlined in the John Muir Health Physician Network (JMHPN) chronic medication Standardized Procedure and protocols.Education: -
- Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program - Required or will consider a training program in an outpatient pharmacy setting or -
- Completion of Medical Assistant Program - Accredited - Required - - - -Experience: -
- 3 years' Medication refill and prior authorization processing - Required -
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) - Required -
- 3 years' Experience in Pharmacy - Preferred - -Certifications/Licensures: -
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association - Required -
- -Certificate of completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program OR -Pharmacy Tech -license in good standing- California Board of Pharmacy - -Required
- CPhT Pharmacy Technician - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board - PreferredSkills: -
- It is a requirement of this position that the employee be available to work some weekend shifts based on operational needs but a minimum of one weekend shift per month may be required. -
- Knowledge of various medication classes including but not limited to antihypertensives, antidiabetics and diabetic supplies, statins, and antidepressants. -
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. -
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. -
