Job Summary
This position is responsible for the loan processing (packaging and closing) of all SBA and USDA loans. This role will work closely with the SBA Lending team, attorneys, third-party vendors, and other internal departments to process, close, and manage the SBA relationships with the highest degree of SBA loan program compliance. The incumbent will provide administrative support relative to SBA loan origination and closing process and spearhead communication with clients, borrowers, brokers, government entities, and other third parties exercising discretion and judgment.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Manages the Commercial Loan Pipeline (CLP) record after the initial entry by the Relationship Manager, and monitors and updates status through each phase of process.
- Assists in the collection and review of required application and financial documents to establish the packaging checklist and Ten-Tab loan file organization.
- Drafts, reviews, and manages the SBA Processing (Packaging and Closing) Checklist, SBA Forms including 1919 and 1920’s, draft Authorizations, and Loan Commitment Letters.
- Reviews approved SBA and/or USDA credit application package to determine appropriate due diligence and documentation necessary to ensure proper collateral position and compliance with the Authorization and applicable SOPs.
- Packages, processes, and submits loan files and packages for various types of loans including GP and PLP loans.
- Updates CLP as items are completed, utilizing closing checklist, and provides frequent status updates to Borrower and SBA Relationship Manager.
- Engages HomeTrust Bank approved counsel for loan documents, coordinates ordering of UCC searches and title work, and reviews all UCC searches, title work, and final draft loan documents for accuracy and adherence to bank approval and SBA Authorization prior to closing.
- Approves and disburses funds per the final approved Settlement Statement, including verifying wiring instructions and initiating wires for disbursements, ensuring CLP is up to date for on-boarding.
- Participates and contributes to weekly departmental and pipeline meetings.
- Performs a post-closing review of original executed loan documents, and compiles and sends to SBA Loan Servicing for onboarding with complete Ten Tab.
Job Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Required:
- 5+ years of loan processing experience, with 2+ years of experience in SBA packaging/closing.
- Experience in reviewing title work/title insurance.
- Experience in reviewing property, liability, and flood insurance policies.
- Experience with SBA programs, E-Tran, processing requirements, and the Standard Operating Procedure as it pertains to job functions.
- Experience managing client relationships and processes.
- Communicatively strong in conversational interactions and conflict resolution.
- Proficient with SharePoint and ShareFile.
- Above average communications skills with emphasis on listening and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and exceptional organization skills.
- Ability to understand and use bank policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance in conjunction with the SBA’s Standard Operating Procedures and USDA’s Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to prioritize duties and work independently.
- Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to meet designated deadlines while remaining flexible to changing assignments.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and contribute to building a positive team atmosphere.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
