PLEASE NOTE: This is a seasonal position with an anticipated start date of late September/early October, 2024. Individuals in this role will work on a part-time/as-needed basis October December, 2024, and will be required to be on-site every day January 5th-January 31st, 2025. The typical work schedule during the annual Stock Show (January 11th-January 26th) will be every day, 6:00am-6:00pm.
Who We Are
Founded in 1906, the Western Stock Show Association aims to invest in future generations by promoting youth and community development through livestock and equestrian education, innovation, entertainment, and competition. We are best known for putting on the annual National Western Stock Show, which has called Denver its home since the 1890s.
Outside of the best 16 days in January, our Livestock Operations Department represents the National Western Stock Show while working with a variety of individuals and breed associations to support our organization’s vision and mission. Individuals working in the Livestock Office will complete a variety of administrative tasks to further the department’s goals and prepare for the upcoming National Western Stock Show in January 2025.
What We Do
The Livestock Operations Office Assistant will work under the direction of the Senior Director of Livestock Operations to complete various administrative and operational tasks. Typical tasks will include answering calls and checking voicemails, responding to emails, placing orders for show prizes and supplies, receiving/sending necessary shipments, managing entries and participant data, and processing DNA orders. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with the planning and coordination of upcoming shows and events, building exhibitor packets, and preparing necessary documentation (i.e., contracts, premium books, and announcements) as instructed.
What You Need
The ideal candidate will have previous administrative experience and be familiar with what is needed to host a successful livestock show or auction. This individual is highly organized, proactive, and reliable.
To thrive in this position, the Livestock Operations Office Assistant must be someone who can manage multiple tasks and customers at once with a high degree of detail, all while maintaining a calm, professional, and positive demeanor. Superior written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Candidates should be comfortable with working indoors, outside in all weather conditions, and around animals. While this position is primarily stationed indoors, it is likely there will be situations in which the Livestock Operations Office Assistant is required to stand for long periods of time or walk far distances throughout the Complex.
Scheduling flexibility is a must. This position may require early morning hours, late evening/overnight hours, holiday hours, and/or weekend hours. Candidates should be prepared to work up to 12-hour shifts leading up to and through the 2025 Stock Show.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $19.00/hour.
- Paid sick time offered at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
