SHIPPING & RECEIVING CLERK - UNIVERSAL FURNITURE

BASIC FUNCTION

Employee is responsible for loading and unloading furniture onto and off of trucks for shipments. Loads and unloads trucks, ensuring that items are arranged according to standard accepted practices and procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working knowledge of proper procedures for arranging and stacking furniture and other merchandise to ensure safe transport via truck.
• Working knowledge of warehouse organization and operational policies and procedures.
• Some knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions for performing manual labor consisting of heavy lifting.
• Ability to use hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklift.
• Perform custodial functions, as necessary, to ensure cleanliness and safety of warehouse and loading areas.
• Ability to work from AS400 and Orcale operating systems.
• Experiences in bills of lading and dealing with truck drivers.
• Review loading tallies and bills of lading for accuracy.
• Stage material in warehouse.
• Participate in inventory cycle counts as required.
• Supports shipping operations as team player with Shipping Supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including hand truck, pallet jack and forklift.
• 1-2 Years of experience in warehouse/truck loading preferred.
• Must be able to work on concrete floors for 9-hour shifts.
• Ability to get along with others and work in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and quality a must.
• Must be dependable with good attendance.
• Performs other related work as required.
