Summary
SUMMARY: The SLH Supervisor, EVS provides direct supervision and training to the EVS staff. Activities include providing direction, on-the-job training and continuing guidance to the EVS staff, as well as ordering of supplies for the department. The Supervisor is responsible for workflow distribution, scheduling, leads, operational budgets and forecasts, regular rounding of the hospital to ensure federal, state and local regulation compliance as well as assist in special administrative duties. Incumbent assures that the quality and quantity of work of departmental staff meets all departmental and/or hospital standards. The Supervisor performs primarily administrative functions including lead support, data analysis, and detailed work but may be required, on occasion, to perform some of the duties of the EVS staff in order to assure their quality and timeliness. The Supervisor assures that the quality and quantity of work of departmental staff meets all departmental and/or hospital standards. The Supervisor must have thorough knowledge of all related department and organizational Joint Commission, OSHA, and Title 22 regulations. Performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE:The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Attends committee meetings, i.e. Quality Assurance, Environment of Care, Infection Control, Health and Safety and other related committees.
2. Communicates effectively and consistently administrative directives to EVS staff.
3. Conducts annual evaluations for all Housekeeping staff; assigns work schedules and assignments of housekeeping staff; reviews and schedules all new applicants for employment in the EVS department; provides supervision to all EVS staff; provides training for all techniques and equipment used in the housekeeping department.
4. Conducts monthly departmental meetings and encourages participation.
5. Ensures compliance with departmental operations, fire, safety and infection control policies and procedures; maintains all state, federal and respective regulatory regulations for the EVS department, ensuring compliance.
6. Ensures, in partnership with Materials Management, that the patient care units are adequately stocked with linens; provides recommendations of any changes in supplies or equipment to improve safety for the staff and patients and/or to reduce departmental costs.
7. Maintains a working relationship with physicians, nursing staff, patients, visitors and housekeeping staff.
8. Participates and provides input with the fiscal EVS Departmental budget; maintains an inventory list of supplies and equipment in the department; participates in the development and implementation of all departmental policies and procedures.
9. Participates in Performance Improvement and Infection Control programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education:High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED. Minimum Experience:Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
