SRE / Applications Support Engineer

Location: New York (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Must-Have Skills:

• Mid-Level Experience: Around 7 years of experience in application support.
• Front-Office Support: Experience working with traders and excellent communication skills.
• Scripting & Development: Python scripting and small development tasks.
• Unix/Linux: Proficiency in Unix/Linux, including shell scripting.
• Databases: Experience with RDMS (Relational Database Management Systems).
• Monitoring Tools: Familiarity with Geneos, Grafana, Splunk, or similar tools.
• SRE Tools: Experience with automation tools used for SRE.
• Job Scheduling: Knowledge of job scheduling tools.
• Cloud: AWS experience, AWS certification preferred.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Financial Product Knowledge: Fixed Income, Derivatives, Bonds, Treasuries, FX trading, Equities, Interest Rate Derivatives, Credit Risk.
• Application Development: Proficient in application development for multiple technologies and design techniques.
• Programming Languages: Working proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Java, Python, .Net, C++, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide front-office application support, ideally with experience on a trading floor.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with traders and other stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions.
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools for automation and monitoring.
• Participate in incident response and problem management.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of application stability and performance.

Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and inquisitive, with a strong sense of ownership.
• Understanding of risk controls and compliance standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams.

Technical Skills Desired:

• Working knowledge of Python or other programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages.
• Working knowledge of development toolsets to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
• Knowledge of LINUX/UNIX operating systems.
• Knowledge of scheduling tools (Autosys, Control M).
• Basic Cloud knowledge (AWS or Kubernetes).
• Experience with database technologies and SQL queries.
• Experience or knowledge of working in a DevOps / SRE model.
• Knowledge of development tools (Jenkins, Git, BitBucket).
