About the Job
Experienced intermediate level technician that provides support to a field survey crew. The common industry title for this position is "Instrument Person".
Work assignments support land surveying field operations. Accountabilities include the safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, boats, ATV's, off- road vehicles and surveying equipment, brush clearing using a machete or chain saw. Possesses an experienced knowledge operating survey equipment such as a: total station, surveyor's level, GPS and other survey related instruments. Is able to perform basic survey calculations, record legible field notes. Is competent in mathematics, and able to operate and maintain hand tools. Understands nature of work and thrives in an outdoor environment. Possesses leadership skills to lead survey crew in the supervisor's absence. Communicates and interacts with customers and landowners while functioning in a team environment.
Employment Guidelines:
Typically has High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years experience for both the Field and for the Office position.
Experience for a Field Position is working on a survey field crew, which includes one to two years extensive experience operating surveying instruments.
Licenses / Certifications:
Valid State of Florida Driver's License is required.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
