Due to Company growth, we are actively seeking an experienced Safety Construction Specialist to join our Transmission Construction Team in Lewiston, New York. The individual will assist managing the day-to-day field safety compliance (OSHA, Contractor Safety Policy, etc.) of our SOW construction activities.
Responsibilities & Duties::- Submission of detailed safety reports weekly, analyzing application of safety procedures to support contractor means and methods to assure contractors’ safety staff are supporting safe project execution.
- Comprehensive daily safety reports, using a provided template, encapsulating contractor activities, field safety observations, safe site conditions. This report should be provided within one (1) business day of the work performed.
- Detailed safety reports of any accidents or incidents on-site, aligning with NYPA governance and contrasting with contractor safety reports to ensure thorough documentation and analysis.
- Daily reviews and summaries of safety-related activities and inspections, including contractor safety meetings and safety walkdowns, to ensure compliance and promote a safe work environment.
- Summaries of environmental walkdowns, highlighting adherence to environmental standards and regulations from a site safety perspective.
- Detailed minutes from construction safety specific meetings, capturing key discussions, decisions, and action items.
- Project HASP, Activity Specific Safety Plans, Safety Analysis Reports: Expert reviews of project safety submittals, as required as part of the contract or necessary from AHJ’s, or regulatory agencies.
- Collection and cataloging of photographs documenting site safety conditions, progress, and specific observations, with clear annotations.
- Reports on special safety inspections conducted under building or regulatory permits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and codes.
Documentation of responses to RFIs and monthly summaries of safety factoids, metrics, KPI’s and regulated waste disposal activities, maintaining compliance and effective communication. - Evaluations and opinions on accuracy, completeness, and compliance with the contract terms. Verification that the safety related schedule of value work items performed aligns with the invoiced amounts. Provide written recommendation to the owner for payment invoice presented by contractor specific to Safety Specific Payment Items, if applicable.
- Using a provided template or provide equivalent, established frequency updates on safety oversight compliance.
- Maintain detailed safety records of construction activities, including daily safety logs, Pre-job Briefings, safety reports, and field photographs. Document any changes, modifications, or unforeseen conditions during construction. Assist with keeping track of contractor safety submittals, approvals, and correspondence.
- Preparation of safety related stop work orders or incident reports as necessary, based on observed safe work practices deficiencies or specific requests from the owner specific to worker and site safety.
- Manage a project safety risk register and deliver monthly a report on status of the safety risk register and safety risk trends, safety mitigations, and those accepted.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
- Have excellent interpersonal communication skills and technical writing ability
- Adeptness in a suite of essential software, including the Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools like Procore or equivalent platforms, is required to facilitate efficient management and communication throughout the construction process
- Must have power utility expereince
- Must be appropriately trained to work in MV and HV environments
- Must have a good understanding of construction contract administration principles
- Must have OSHA training
- Must be in Upstate New York and able to report to construction sites in Lewiston, New York
- Must possess valid driver’s license
The salary range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licenses and certifications; and other related skillsets. The disclosed range is an estimate and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
