Job Responsibilities:
Alta Equipment Group is currently looking for a fulltime Safety Coordinator to work with our Regional EHS Manager. This is an entry level position, where the successful candidate will receive hands on experience in the day-to-day functionality of the corporate safety plan and processes. This position has substantial growth potential. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:
- Safety Coordinator will assist the Regional EHS Manager with training employees on safety, and company policies and procedures.
- Assist with facilities inspections; help develop branch specific environmental programs
- Assist with accident investigations and follow up; incident record keeping
- Help maintain third party vendor risk management system, including SDS information
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations
- Will perform a variety of projects as assigned by the Regional EHS Manager and Corporate Director of EHS
- Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- The completion or pursuit of BA/BS, preferably in Environmental, Health and safety or related field
- Excellent communication, presentation skills, and professionalism
- Desire to learn and grow in the position
- Above average experience with computer programs - Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
Language Skills - Basic: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills - Basic: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability - Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will sit; Occasionally will stand, walk
- Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift up to 10 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 50 pounds
- Work Environment: Occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts
