Responsibilities:
Position Summary
Assists with the corporate-wide Safety management program. Helps ensure government and company compliance and assists with the development and implementation of job-specific plans. Coordinates inspections with internal and external representatives and assists with the claims process.
- Field/Management Support
- Attends weekly subcontractor meetings to remain involved in project progress and safety matters, as appropriate.
- Monitor safety efforts of subcontractors and Brinkmann employees.
- Helps enforce government and company regulations to ensure associate and subcontractor compliance by conducting job site inspections and addressing issues.
- Reviews documentation to ensure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
- Assists with the development and implementation of job-specific safety plans. Schedules jobsite visits and safety audits.
- Conduct documented Project Safety and Health Inspections.
- Work directly with the Senior Safety Manager or Safety Manager.
- Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study.
- Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements. Preferred.
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skill.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Ability to work with all levels in the organization from craft to leadership.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
- The ability to travel and relocate as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior internship or work experience in the construction industry.
Working Conditions:
- The project engineer intern’s work is primarily performed indoors out of a main office or field office at the construction site; occasionally outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Light physical effort is required, including the handling of objects up to 25 pounds and some standing, walking, sitting, talking and/or hearing.
