Job DescriptionHagie Manufacturing is seeking a qualified candidate to be part of our Operations team as a Safety Manager in Clarion, IA. This position manages safety and health programs and compliance for a unit. Develops and directs the implementation and sustainment of the health and safety management system. Manages development and implementation of programs which identify and reduce employee exposure to workplace hazards. Provides leadership and serves as a resource to management in a strategic role to establish goals and objectives and guides the unit to achieve these goals. Manages regulatory health and safety compliance and acts as an agent of the unit during regulatory visits and inspections. Span of influence is large; may provide guidance and support to division/platform leadership. Provides direction to multiple functions such as Occupational Health and Safety. Typically reports to the factory manager or operations leadership.
- Contribute to the formation of a key element of functional strategy through specialist expertise and insights, to ensure that the strategy meets business needs.
- Monitor and review performance against health, safety, and environment (HSE) key performance indicators (KPIs) and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility. Take action to improve performance and to resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
- Collect business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis, to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals.
- Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
- Investigate all kinds of incidents and reports and provide expert advice to more senior colleagues. Minimize risk exposures and ensure adherence with regulatory standards by working with all internal functions to make sure compliance programs are properly implemented.
- Collaborate internally and work as the customer champion in cross-functional teams to build strong understanding of regulation and registration requirements.
- Execute a communications plan within established systems and procedures.
- Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's strategy and action plan and to the broader organization's mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
- Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
- May assist or manage workers compensation administration and return to work programs.

Education:
Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certifications, licenses and/or registration requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent Level
Relevant Work Experiences:
Type and amount of experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. May include specific roles and/or an understanding of a function, organization, industry or product line.
- Experience in a manufacturing operation, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering environment. - 1 - 3 years.
- Miscellaneous degree or equivalent experience. - Technical degree or apprenticeship (1-2 years or equivalent)
- Experience working in customer service or related customer-oriented environment. - 1 - 3 years
- Experience in Safety and ergonomics. - 1 - 3 years
