Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. is seeking a qualified Scenario Development Writer to provide professional services and mission support to the U.S. Army Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) located at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Mission Support services for the JRTC, one of the US Army's Combat Training Centers, entails providing realistic, graduate-level collective training experience at the Brigade Combat Team (BCT) level with the primary objective of training light infantry, airborne, air assault, rangers and other special operations units. Historically, the JRTC has hosted rotational exercises for US Army motorized and mechanized formations, as well as select units from the US Marine Corp, US Navy or US Air Force.
The JRTC typically hosts ten standard rotational exercises each Fiscal Year (FY). Typical standard rotational exercises are designed based on a 14-calendar day training period with 18 calendar days of Live Fires typically starting prior to Force on Force (FOF) and running concurrently during the fourteen (14) training days. The standard training exercise is scripted and typically based on any combination of offense, defense, and stability operations. Standard rotations take place in a generic region with scenarios and Opposing Forces (OPFOR) threats based on the Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE). Rotational Training Unit (RTU) missions conducted during standard rotations are generally in direct alignment to the RTU's standard Mission Essential Task List (METL) and training objectives.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Shall provide joint strategic deployment and tactical contingency scenarios and supporting tactical and exercise control/support documents to facilitate rotational field training exercises (FTX), command post exercises (CPX) and multi-echelon live fire exercises (LFX).
- Provide scenario products that adhere to joint combined, coalition and/or service doctrine and tailored to support all units that train at the JRTC including: Army, FORSCOM, COCOMS, United States Army Reserve (USAR), NGB, USMC, USMC Air, Naval SOF, Naval Air, and US Air Force Air Mobility Command (AMC), Air Combat Command and Multinational Forces as well as fulfill the rotational intents of the Commander, JRTC, and the rotational unit commander.
- Shall provide Draft and final products in the correct doctrinal format, content, and style in accordance with scenario product milestone schedule.
- Shall incorporate Government draft comments (aka Document Change Directive (DCD)) into final scenario documents.
- Some examples of the distinct scenarios area a Standard Rotational Exercise (current model is a Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) with four different areas of reference), a Special Rotation, and a Future Scenario that will be specified by Chief of PEMC.
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess, at a minimum, military or civilian experience at the BCT level commensurate with PWS requirements to support specific Army Warfighting Functional areas listed below:
- Maneuver; Command and Control
- Intelligence
- Role Play
- Sustainment
- Echelons above Division (EAD)
- Fire Support
- Aviation (AVN)
- CMO
- Information Operations (Includes PSYOP)
- Special Operations
- Air Defense Artillery (ADA)
- Engineer/Chemical/MP
- Signal
- Interagency
- Must also possess military or civilian experience in exercise development, training management or battle simulation at the BCT level commensurate with PWS requirements.
- The Government requires the above qualifications; however, a MEL 4 branch qualified individual in the respective functional area is desired.
