Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate school psychologist to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. This full-time position is located in a school setting near Danbury, CT. As a school psychologist you will work with students who have diverse learning needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct psychological and educational assessments to identify students' needs, strengths, and challenges.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and 504 Plans in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other specialists.
- Counseling and Intervention: Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to immediate crises, providing support and appropriate referrals to ensure student safety and well-being.
- Consultation: Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement strategies to support student learning and well-being.
- Program Development: Develop and implement school-wide programs to address issues such as bullying, mental health awareness, and substance abuse prevention.
- Professional Development: Provide training and support to school staff on issues related to child development, mental health, and effective teaching strategies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, interventions, and progress.
- Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between the school and community resources, ensuring students and families have access to necessary services.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements: Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Valid state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist. Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential is a plus.
- Experience: Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in conducting psychological assessments, developing IEPs, and providing counseling and crisis intervention. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Cultural Competence: Awareness and sensitivity to cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic diversity.
- Legal and Ethical Standards: Knowledge of and adherence to legal and ethical guidelines for school psychologists
