Principal Scientist
Psychiatry Research
The Principal Scientist independently leads a lab, research program, or center with a track record of sustained, independent, and collaborative extramural funding.
Responsibilities:- Serves as a leader of a lab, research program, or center.
- Must have an independent research portfolio.
- Writes grants and maintains scholarly productivity, as evidenced by authorship and major contributions of substantive and original peer-reviewed work.
- Acts as Principal Investigator.
- Responsible or accountable for multiple grants and research projects.
- Defines the scope and selection of research area(s) for investigation through conceptually related studies or a series of projects of lesser scope.
- Directs the preparation of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports and produces scientific content for clinical and regulatory documentation.
- Invited speaker/presenter at conferences, symposia and mentors and provides guidance to collaborators, trainees, and lower level researchers.
- Supervises students, trainees (e.g., residents, research assistants) and lower level scientists.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- PhD or MD in an applicable field required.
- Faculty appointment anticipated at the Associate Professor level or higher
