Maximus is currently hiring for a Security Specialist to join our Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) team in Houston, TX. The Security Specialist is responsible for overseeing the safety and welfare of all guests and office personnel, maintaining office fixtures, creating visitor badges, and additional duties as assigned.
Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the gatekeeper to EMS, ensuring that all personnel are up to date with their TMS requirements such as HIPAA and Rules of Behavior certifications.
- Maintain and control physical access controls at our headquarters building.
- Create parking requests and make badges for new employees.
- Look out for the safety and welfare of all personnel through execution of emergency action plans for natural disasters, security, medical, and fire emergencies.
- Conduct regular inspections of core infrastructure such as HVAC systems to ensure that daily operations are not adversely affected.
- Manage the secure destruction of paper waste in the office at our headquarters building.
- Enforce our COVID-19 mitigation strategy in our headquarters office.
- Assist HR with terminations in the office.
- Monitor CCTV.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist employees with parking access.
- Create Access cards.
- Assist HR with any personnel changes.
- Respond to all critical events in the office.
- All duties and projects as assigned by upper management.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior Military, Law Enforcement or Security experience preferred.
- First Aid, CPR, AED qualified preferred.
- Good communication skills both written and oral.
Education and Experience Requirements

- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Advanced analytical skills, multi-tasking skills, adaptability skills, and detail-oriented.
- Advanced reading and comprehension abilities.
- Advanced organizational and prioritization skills, with strong ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Must be able to lift, move, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Physically required to stand, walk, and climb as needed.
- Must abide by HIPAA regulations by maintaining confidentiality of records and personal information.
- Maintain HVAC, temperature controls, electrical, and building automation systems.
- Must be comfortable being front-facing, taking initiative, and problem solving as needed.
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
