Details:
· Location: Columbia, MD
· Hybrid Work Schedule (2 days remote)
· Monday-Friday
· 8am-5pm
· 6-month contract to hire
Necessary Skills
· Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management.
· CPA certification preferred.
· Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to conflict of interest and PCI compliance policies.
· Proven supervisory skills and ability to review and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of others’ work.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and resolve problems effectively.
· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups including faculty, staff, students, trustees, board members, corporate executives, community leaders, and alumni.
· Proficiency in database management, Excel, and various accounting software packages.
· Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
A day in the role…
· Prepare and ensure the accuracy of monthly and year-end financial statements and other internal reports.
· Handle the preparation and filing of all tax forms and legal filings to maintain the fund’s good standing.
· Oversee the annual audit process, including the preparation of the audit report and review of IRS Form 990.
· Provide accounting guidance to the executive director, treasurer of finance, treasurer of investments, and board members as needed.
· Review and guide the work of the gift processor and other development office employees.
· Supply accounting data for proposals, analyze event reports, and assist in preparing donor reports.
· Collaborate with development office, finance office, and departmental staff to prepare budgets and monitor spending for scholarships and programs.
· Monitor foundation fund spending and work to eliminate barriers to spending.
