Jupiter Power is looking to grow its technical accounting and financial reporting capabilities with the addition of a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial reports and supporting workpapers, as well as assisting with research of accounting guidance and external filings. It will have key interactions with the Project Finance, FP&A, and general Accounting Team along with the company’s external auditors and consultants. The scope of work will involve a holistic approach to GAAP financial statements, financial audits, and business critical project-based accounting (Service Contracts, EPC, Construction, and Lease Accounting). The Senior Accountant will report to Vice President of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support the Vice President of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of the company’s financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for multi-entity structures
- Assist in revenue recognition assessments based on Lease Accounting ASC 842 and Revenue Recognition ASC606 requirements.
- Conduct technical accounting research and draft memos to support company transactions, including long-term revenue contracts, derivative contracts, financing structures, and tax credit monetization structures, among others.
- Perform month-end close duties, account balance reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis.
- Prepare lender financial reporting packages.
- Assist with capitalization implementation accounting initiatives in coordination with the Project Development and EPC Teams that account for project leases, contracts, debts, expenses, accruals, and account reconciliations, deposits, contracts.
- Assist with audit and tax compliance.
- Prepare schedules and supporting information required for year-end audit procedures.
- Liaise with the external auditors, consultants, and tax advisors as required.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Extensive experience with technical accounting under U.S. GAAP and US partnership tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 842 and/or 606 is required.
- Well versed in dealing with financial statements, financial reports, and financial reviews (account reconciliations, accruals, deposits, contracts, capitalization, and leases)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in public accounting, preferably within the Big 4.
- Solid understanding of financing agreements and monitoring debt covenant compliance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to presents complex financial accounting concepts in an understandable format to key internal and external stakeholders
- Prior experience in the industry is strongly preferred. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
Experience with complex general ledger typically found in a mid to large sized organization preferred.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related discipline required
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required
- 3+ years of related experience
This role is office-based with limited travel required. Candidates will be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and must be able to lift up to ten pounds repetitively.
Candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment background investigation and may be subject to drug tests as a condition of employment.
