We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in the financial health of our organization and is responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, and a thorough understanding of the construction industry's financial needs. This is a permanent position, offering a competitive salary and benefits package, and the opportunity to be part of a thriving and innovative construction company.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, ensuring accurate and timely reporting for all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings.
2. Perform cash posting, cash applications, and bank reconciliation tasks.
3. Conduct GL reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.
4. Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
5. Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
6. Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
7. Assist in budget preparation and financial planning processes.
8. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and work on special projects as required.
9. Provide support and guidance to junior accounting staff.
10. Maintain the confidentiality and security of financial information.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
2. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of cash posting, cash applications, bank reconciliation, GL reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
4. Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
5. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
6. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel.
7. Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data in a clear and concise manner.
9. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and manage multiple assignments.
10. Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus.
