Reporting to the Accounting Manager and responsible for a variety of moderate to advanced complex accounting reconciliations, research, and analytical functions. The Senior Accounting Analyst supports the implementation of new accounting standards, prepares financial reports in accordance with GAAP, and assists in preparation of workpapers and documentation for external and internal audits.
Salary Range: $91,821.60 to $106,500.00 annually commensurate with experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and general ledger to ensure transactions have been properly recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Responsible for fixed assets by evaluating expenditures for capitalization and useful life, maintaining fixed asset database, preparing journal entries, managing fixed assets tags, and performing account reconciliations and year-end fixed asset inventory observations
- In charge of compliance filings related to fixed assets such as Welfare Exemption, Form 571, and US Census Annual Capital Expenditures Survey
- Perform analysis and prepare journal entries for revenue, expenses, management fees, accounts receivable, estimate accruals, reserves, and change in net assets
- Perform technical accounting research and documentation to ensure transactions are recorded properly in accordance with GAAP
- Assist with the maintenance of ASC 842 lease accounting by calculating ROU and liabilities for proper accounting treatment including journal entries preparation
- Prepare selected account reconciliations as assigned
- Assist with the coordination of annual audits and prepare required information, including workpapers, financial statement footnotes and support
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, and other duties assigned
JOB/POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Four-year bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Certificate/License: CPA license strongly preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of six years accounting experience is required
- Combination of public and private accounting experience is preferred
- Experience working with internal and/or external audits is a plus
- Experience in ASC 842 lease accounting is a plus
Knowledge:
- Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, and communication skills
- Ability to resolve complex issues
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Avanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, formulas, vlookup, & graphs)
- Experience in non-profit environment including government grants and contracts preferred but not required
- In-depth understanding of GAAP
- Knowledge of Oracle Fusion or similar ERP accounting software
