Position Summary:
The Senior Business Segment Manager is an integral member of the Business Development function at Quaker Houghton, leading a broad set of organic growth initiatives. Success in the role will rely heavily on the ability to manage the regional sales team and prioritize initiatives, work with R&D/Marketing for product management and strengthen customer partnerships for sustained growth. The Senior Business Segment Manager will manage the ongoing development and improvement of our strategy and market development practices, delivering key recommendations and supporting the strategic direction of the segment.
The role is industry and customer focused and required to drive product management and development, pricing and margin enhancement, strategic account management, training and development for industry focused teams. Works closely with Research & Development (R&D), Sales and Field Application organizations to help introduce new products, support customer trials and applications and identify new customer development projects to meet growth and profitability targets.
What will you do
- Full P&L performance responsibility for autonomous U.S. businesses of SIFCO ASC, LLC.
- Direct leadership over functional activities for; Marketing & Sales, Operations (i.e. Production, Design & Engineering, Quality, etc.), and Administration (Procurement, Finance, and Human resources).
- Enhance division’s competitive position in the industries in which it participates, while exploring the division’s competitive opportunities into new industries.
- Submission of annual operating and capital budgets and long-range strategic plan to the GMD.
- Development, implementation and measurement of division goals / objectives.
- Positive promotion of the SIFCO organization in industry through membership and participation in manufacturing/trade associations.
- Participation in setting direction for SIFCO ASC through active membership on SIFCO ASC Executive Committee
- Accountable for Sales, Profit and Market Share growth of assigned industry segment.
- Provides strategic direction in key focus areas – customer prioritization, product portfolio selection, new product development, and account resource/staffing to achieve industry growth targets.
- Supports regional/country sales teams to achieve annual growth and financial goals for the segment.
- Defines expectations for operational support to achieve commercial goals.
- Develops & maintains a strategic business plan for assigned industry segment. Ongoing updates require capturing of key industry and customer trends based on external market data and research.
- Drives CRM usage for sales Pipeline Projects – Engages regional business development team in using CRM and other sales tools.
- Leads strategic account management process within segment and strengthens key, top level customer relationships.
- Resource coordination and planning – regional and local support requirements for trials and existing business.
- Work with R&D and PM to define priorities for product development and localization.
- Initiate and maintain major contracts, proposals and commercial agreements.
What do we look for
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Business Management, Chemistry, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. MBA or advanced technical degree a plus.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in sales, marketing or business development. Technical competency or customer application process/know how is a plus.

- Well-developed business acumen and the ability to apply analytic capability to strategic business thinking and execution. Proven track record in delivering sales growth.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication and management skills. Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written). Proficient in English - written and spoken.
- Cultural awareness, sensitivity and adaptability across global cultures. Ability to influence and work through others to accomplish goals.
- Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently
- Ability to connect with customers at senior levels, e.g.; have the presence and business acumen to influence senior level decision makers within the customer base.
- Understanding and experience of Value Selling and CRM.
- Ability to self-motivate and lead internal/external teams to achieve planned objectives.
- Ability to produce and deliver commercial and technical presentations.
