The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing departmental requests for the purchase of goods and services for Garnet Health Medical Center (GHMC). The Senior Buyer will process approved paper or electronic purchase requisitions daily for supplies, equipment and services.  The Senior Buyer responsibilities include: documenting, sourcing, screening, auditing, investigating, verifying, tracking, negotiating, research, inquiries, communication and follow up. This position is paramount to the organization because it provides the link between the suppliers and the hospital that are essential for patient care.  The Senior Buyer is a Lead position that oversees the Buyers.  The Senior Buyer will monitor Buyer activities to ensure compliance with departmental policy and procedure.

The range for the role is $58,461-$73,076 salary.

Minimum Education:     

• Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

 Minimum Experience:    

• Two years of purchasing experience in a healthcare environment with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously required. Prior knowledge and utilization of Materials Management and EDI Systems preferred. Excellent computer skills coupled with outstanding communication and customer service skills are essential.

• Sedentary with light walking around the hospital. Computer based.

Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
• Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
