This Opportunity
WSP is currently seeking a Senior Bridge Inspector join our expanding northern New England PM/CM Team. The successful candidate will be considered for projects within the primary geography they reside, with opportunities in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral member of WSP’s Project Management and Construction Management Team that helps our clients solve challenges and deliver projects.
This is technical services work performing moderately complex inspection duties, on a variety of bridge rehabilitation or preservation projects, with construction values from $1-$15 million. This position performs a variety of technical tasks in the field and office using independent thought and will be required to work as Chief Inspector (or Resident Inspector) on active construction projects. Responsibilities include monitoring and enforcing the contractor's work in order to assure that all work inspected meets the standard specifications and contract requirements and is tested as per policy and meets expected quality. Work is performed under limited supervision.
The candidate will possess demonstrated construction documentation experience, understanding of the owner representative role, with the versatility to inspect various work elements, helping observe and report on project quality, progress and safety. This position would report to the resident engineer, or their designee
Your Impact
•Monitor and inspect construction activities.
•Supervise junior inspectors.
•Compile or review daily inspector reports, track and calculate quantities, reconcile payment items, review and help compile pay estimates.
•Review and coordinate material sampling, testing and certificate of compliance process.
•Monitor and manage maintenance of traffic.
•Coordinate record photographs, for tracking of daily progress Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects
•Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
•Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Requirements:
•High School diploma
•Minimum 7 years of construction inspection and documentation experience, or a combination of education and multiple years of experience. Including 1 year of bridge inspection experience.
•Hands-on knowledge of state transportation agency means and methods, of compiling and maintaining documentation.
•ACI Concrete or NETTCP Concrete certification.
•Excellent time management, verbal and written communication skills.
•Have a valid driver's license.
•Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Requirements:
•Associate of Science of Engineering or Environmental Technology or Construction Management, or related field.
•Hands-on familiarity with Site Manager, Field Manager, APPIA, Doc Express software, or similar platforms for construction management. NETTCP HMA Certification
•Knowledge of construction materials i.e. asphalt, soils and concrete quality assurance methods and procedures.
•Balance of inspection and documentation experience.
•Above average proficiency with MS WORD Suite, Site or Field Manager, APPIA, and Doc Express.
This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.There is a potential of being assigned to projects that are commutable, or those requiring overnight travel. Travel expenses are reimbursable and will discussed with the selected candidates.
