We are seeking a Senior Data Movement Engineer to assist with modernizing our ETL environment and building new ETL/ELT workflows and data pipelines as we transition toward a cloud infrastructure. This role supports data architects, data analysts, and business intelligence developers across various data initiatives. The ideal candidate is self-directed, comfortable managing data requirements for multiple teams and systems, and brings extensive experience in data management to create effective and efficient data processes.
Responsibilities
- Complete the full lifecycle of ETL/ELT development, including design, mappings, data transformations, scheduling, and testing.
- Translate data movement requirements into technical ETL designs.
- Develop ETL/ELT workflows, mappings, and pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into target environments.
- Manage data extraction and transmission to external vendors.
- Create test plans, perform unit testing, and develop supporting documentation for new ETL processes.
- Work closely with data analysts to understand business processes and corporate data.
- Assess impacts on data warehouse structures and information flows from changes in business or technical requirements.
- Contribute to architectural decisions supporting business processes.
- Provide production support, perform root cause analysis, and assist with remediation planning.
- Conduct data quality analysis, report issues, and propose solutions for data quality management.
- Expand upon internal controls and participate in customer support.
- Perform design and code reviews to maintain organizational standards.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Estimate efforts for software development and testing, including researching costs, and estimate vendor package upgrades and integrations.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours support as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence tools, and data analysis.
- At least 5 years of SQL query development experience, preferably across multiple database platforms, with expertise in dimensional and star schema data warehouse implementations.
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools (Informatica IICS, Talend, Boomi, and PowerCenter preferred).
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, structures, and ETL best practices.
- Experience using query tools (e.g., AQT, MS Query).
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with a proactive, inquisitive approach.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and work effectively in team settings.
Preferred
- Experience with cloud database technologies.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
Education
- BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $61 - $71/per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
