In alignment with J&J Learn's strategy, the Innovative Medicine (IM) R&D Head of Learning & Development (L&D) will be responsible for designing the R&D organization's learning and development strategy as well as developing and managing a roadmap to migrate JRD's learning platforms to JJ Learn. The L&D organization for IM R&D will initially engage as a lean, start-up organization with this role at the lead, focused on CDT/team effectiveness curriculum and overseeing contractor resources as well as partnering closely with a small team focused on CDT teaming. There is a keen opportunity to build a broader R&D L&D plan for the future, in collaboration with J&J's enterprise L&D organization. This person will be responsible for partnering with the J&J Learn organization and the broader JRD teams to deliver a best-in-class talent experience of democratized and personalized access to learning and development opportunities for all JRD employees. The role will understand a breadth of business tools, resources, and day-to-day business operations of R&D learners to help design an experience that embeds learning in the flow of work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify learning needs, critical gaps and opportunities that result in an improved user experience and a world class employee centered learning experience
- Create comprehensive learning and development strategies that support the organization's short-term and long-term goals, ensuring they align with the business, HR, and talent strategies.
- Partner with CDT Excellence leads to optimize Compound Development teaming model to effectively & efficiently support IM R&D and deliver core of a CDT curriculum; while creating a more defined full CDT curriculum utilizing existing best practices.
- Lead the development of a multi-year roadmap for the JRD learning platforms within J&J Learn
- Develop the strategy to sustain JRD learning platforms within J&J Learn
- Partner with J&J LEARN, preferred vendors, internal SME's, and external education institutions to enable consistent learning material development for current and future learning needs
- Represent JRD in the J&J Learn Council to provide input and insights into the J&J Learn organization and strategy
- Collaborate with J&J LEARN to represent JRD challenges and opportunities in learning and development areas and future needs to elevate training experience and impact.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional, cross-sector and cross enterprise network of business partners to enable effective understanding of learning needs across the R&D organization (build community of practice)
- Manage the learning and development budget effectively, ensuring optimal utilization of resources for training initiatives.
- Lead and motivate indirect partners and team, and longer term, a broader team of learning and development professionals, providing guidance, feedback, and support to enable their growth and success.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Required:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive relevant experience is required along with experience in Pharmaceuticals.
- 5 years of people management experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful learning solutions that positively impact the target audience is required
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies is required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, are required
- Vendor Management experience required
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute learning strategies aligned with business goals is required
- Analytical mindset with the ability to measure training effectiveness and ROI.
The anticipated base pay range for this position in the US is $187,000 to $322,000.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
