As a Senior Director, Legal Counsel, you’ll play a key role in the RXO legal department and will closely support the business. This is a legal generalist position with an emphasis on commercial contracting and will involve significant exposure to senior sales and operations leaders.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Closely collaborate with business partners and legal colleagues, and advise on a wide variety of commercial, legal, regulatory, and compliance issues.
- Provide thought leadership in the commercial contracting area, and review, negotiate and draft a variety of contracts with an emphasis on transportation and procurement agreements.
- Lead strategic projects and initiatives related to legal, compliance and/or regulatory matters.
- Assist in the development and redesign of legal support processes, templates, and client-facing materials to drive greater internal efficiencies.
- Develop and deliver training to internal clients on various legal and regulatory topics.
- Provide litigation support to claims management team and outside counsel as needed and advise on customer and commercial disputes.
- Partner with business clients and other in-house counsel to help grow the business while managing risk.
What you’ll need to excel:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney; significant experience in commercial contracting, including transportation contracts; strong understanding of applicable laws and regulations, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Active member in good standing of at least one state bar
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
It’d be great if you also have:
- 10 years’ experience as a practicing attorney with a combination of law firm and in-house experience; experience with the transportation sector; experience with procurement contracting, including technology contracts.
