Job Summary:
GOLF is looking for a senior equipment editor and writer to bolster and grow its gear coverage across GOLF.com, GOLF Magazine and its various video, podcast and ecommerce platforms. In this role, you will grow GOLF's reach and authority as the game's preeminent source of equipment insight, news and reviews.
Job Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage, optimize and evolve ClubTest, GOLF's comprehensive and impactful review platform
- Develop and foster relationships with key contacts at the endemic companies in the equipment/gear industry
- Work in the GOLF.com CMS to build and QA content cleanly and quickly
- Write, edit and fact-check equipment-related stories on tight deadlines, and write headlines and teases that drive engagement
- Identify gear stories on the PGA Tour and elsewhere that you can relate back to the average golfer
- Contribute to GOLF Magazine (writing, reporting, editing)
- Collaborate with GOLF's editorial and social teams to prioritize content production based on the editorial calendar
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with and ideally an expertise in golf equipment, gadgets, apparel, etc., and all the key players in the industry
- Several years of experience covering golf and/or tech/product reporting in a similar space
- Have familiarity with web publishing (ideally WordPress) and Photoshop
- On-camera/behind-the-mic experience also a plus. We are aiming to aggressively expand our equipment coverage in the video/podcast space
- Analytical. You can quickly decipher equipment-speak and put it into an accessible and engaging language that any golfer can understand
- Precise and focused. You are detail-focused and excel working in a high-volume, high-velocity editorial workflow
- Connected. Top candidates will have a wide footprint and deep contacts in the golf-equipment space
- A sharp editor with a knack for writing enticing headlines and display text
- A strong communicator, and a team player
- Creative. You know what golfers want. And you have the ability to package and tease equipment-related stories effectively in real time
- Versatile. You're as comfortable in front of a camera/mic as you are in front of your laptop
- Flexible. You must be willing to work some weekends, especially during golf's busiest week
