Position Summary
- Responsible for resolving employee relations issues and conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations. Works closely with management to determine appropriate resolutions and outcomes.
- Works with management to successfully resolve matters involving policy interpretation, discipline, performance assessment and terminations.
- Administers and interprets labor agreements and grievance procedures.
- Assists with administration of the company's benefits programs including delivery and communication of benefit plans via New Hire Onboarding and Open Enrollment.
- Oversees the administration of the leave of absence programs.
- Handles employee exit interviews.
- Assists in the development and implementation of new programs, plans, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for coordinating recruitment of exempt and non-exempt positions with HR Â Coordinator and hiring managers.
- Creates and recommends new approaches, programs and policies that positively affect selection and retention of high performance teams.
- Develops strong partnerships with all levels of the organization and maintains and models positive rapport with employees and management.
- Assists with development of a database of job descriptions and role profiles.
- Assists with execution of the annual performance reviews.
- Oversees and develops Human Resources Coordinator
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position requires a deep knowledge of human resources functions throughout the employee life cycle as well as a familiarity with labor laws.
The Senior HR Generalist position is an advocate for the company and its policies as well as the staff they serve. This role requires an even temperament, unbiased approach, attention to detail and collaborative mindset.
Requirements Specific Qualifications (items are required unless otherwise noted)
- Bachelor’s degree or SHRM/HRCI Certification is preferred
- Five+ years of generalist experience with emphasis on Employee Relations is required
- Must have full cycle recruitment experience
- Experience working in a union environment is a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of UKG is a plus.
- Must be extremely flexible with job duties and be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment that is committed to providing excellent customer service to all employees
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of employees and management
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
- Proficiency at an intermediate level in Windows Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Must have knowledge of principles and practices of HR administration, policies, procedures, and employment law.
